As more pressure mounts on our youth today, we need an organization like Wilton Youth Council as a resource for parents and teens alike.  Working quietly in the background, Wilton Youth Council sponsors youth centered programs and activities in town and in our schools to provide outlets and support for our teens and pre-teens and parents.  Whether it was a speaker at a parenting workshop whose comment just illuminated a concern you had, or an article in our newsletter that sparks a conversation with your teen about the dangers of underage drinking and drug use, or the Post Graduation Party for our High School Seniors that provides an alcohol-free place to celebrate his or her achievement, Wilton Youth Council works in the community providing programs that keep us moving forward in a positive direction as families.  Since its inception, Wilton Youth Council has encouraged and supported positive youth development and healthy family life.
"Over the past ten years, Wilton parents and community have made substancial progress in reducing substance abuse among their young people.  However, among older youth, drinking and abuse of marijuana and some subscription drugs remain above national averages.  Progress has been excellent, but there is still work to be done."
